made a special appearance with Mahalia Jackson at Carnegie
Hall in New York City;
toured with Mahalia Jackson for two years before joining
"The Golden Gate Quartet";
was a soloist with "The Golden Gate Quartet" for
18 years;
released together with "The Golden Gate Quartet"
over 30 albums;
performed with "The Golden Gate Quartet" in more
than 50 countries;
did command performances for Kings, Presidents and many
other dignitaries;
separated from "The Golden Gate Quartet" in 1971
to start a solo career;
sang with Line Renaud at the Casino de Paris for four years;
achieved great success at Galas shows in Germany, Switzerland,
Scandinavia, Russia and France;
performed on worlds largest passenger ship "FRANCE";
performed at a Paris Music Hall on the Champs Elysees for
one and half years;
awarded a gold medal by the German Red Cross for his song
"Nobody Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen";
was included in a special album compilation that sold more
300,000 copies in Germany alone;
released the album "Sixty Minute Man" in 1971;
released the albums "Jesus", "Heavenly Land"
and "Clyde Wright Sings Jesus" in 1973;
in 1979, Clyde Wright created the "Gospel Caravan Quartet"
for the "Gospel Caravan", a gospel musical which
received rave reviews in Paris. Clyde sang with Marion Williams,
Sally Martin as well as Tisha Campbell, a 9 year old who would
soon become a Hollywood superstar.
was knighted to the "Ordre des Arts et des Lettres"
by Jacques Toubon (French Minister of Culture);
returned as lead soloist with "The Golden Gate Quartet"
in 1984;
celebrated the 60th birthday of "The Golden Gate Quartet"
with a concert tour of 250 shows in 1994;
formed the group "The Gospel Caravan Trio" with
his son Mitchell in 1995;
released the album "Oh What A Day" in 1997;
performed at the American Cathedral in Paris in 1998 - fist
ever sell out at the cathedral;
performed at the renowned "Carlo Felice" opera
house in Genoa,Italy - second largest in Europe;
performed at the Salzburg Jazz Festival in October '99;
performed as the special guest in the renowned VS-Villingen
"Gospel Christmas Jubilee" in December '99.
2001 returns to the GOLDEN GATE QUARTET and now tours exclusively
with them.
